During Jesus’s life and after his Ascension, his disciples anointed and laid hands on those who were sick in order to heal them. Whenever a person was seriously ill, other Christians would gather ariund and pray for him ot her and then rub oil that has been blessed by a bishop on whatever parts of the body needed healing.

God’s loving concern

  • God loves and cares for us when we are sick, suffering or dying

  • God heals our spirit and gives us comfort through the love of the Christian community - sometimes we are healed physically

  • Jesus’ suffering & death were not his final fate and neither for us

  • Jesus’s resurrection gives us hope
