Elements
Basic building blocks of matter, consisting of atoms and cannot be broken down into simpler substances.
Periodic Table
A chart organizing all known elements based on their atomic number, grouping them according to their properties.
Mixture
A combination of two or more substances that retain their individual properties and can be separated by physical methods.
Solute
The substance that dissolves in a solvent to form a solution.
Solvent
The substance in which the solute dissolves; it is usually present in greater quantity in a solution.
Concentration
A measure of how much solute is dissolved in a fixed volume of solvent.
Dilution
The process of reducing the concentration of a solute in a solution, typically by adding more solvent.
Suspension
A heterogeneous mixture in which solute-like particles settle out of a solvent-like phase over time.
Compound
A substance formed when two or more different elements chemically bond together.
Solubility
The ability of a solute to dissolve in a solvent at a specified temperature and pressure.
Chemical Properties
Characteristics that can only be observed during a chemical reaction, such as reactivity.
