General Assembly
The name of the Missouri Legislative Branch, which has the main duty of making laws for the state.
Missouri Executive Branch
The branch run by the governor whose main duty is to enforce laws made by the General Assembly.
Missouri Judicial Branch
The state's court system responsible for punishing law breakers and interpreting laws and acts to ensure they are constitutional.
Missouri Supreme Court
The highest level of the Missouri Courts, consisting of 7 judges who serve 12 year terms.
Missouri Governor
The head of the executive branch who serves 4 year terms and can be elected to a maximum of 2 terms (8 years).
Missouri Court of Appeals
The second level of the three basic levels of the Missouri Courts.
Missouri Circuit courts
The third level of the three basic levels of the Missouri Courts.
Missouri House of Representatives
A legislative body consisting of 163 members who must be at least 24 years old and serve 2 year terms.

A term describing a two-house legislature, such as the Missouri General Assembly which has a total of 197 members.
Eight-year limit
The maximum number of years any person can serve in the Missouri House of Representatives.

The official who is 2nd in command to the Governor of Missouri.

A federal agreement where Missouri entered the union as a slave-state and Maine entered as a free-state.
