Congruent
The corresponding angles and sides have equal measures.
Corresponding Parts
Points, sides, edges, or angles in two or more figures that are images of each other with respect to a sequence of transformations.
Flowchart
A diagram showing an argument for a conclusion from certain evidence.
Cosine Ratio
In a right triangle, the ____ ratio of an acute ∠A is the adjacent leg divided by the hypotenuse
Sine Ratio
In a right triangle, the _ ratio of an acute angle is the opposite leg divided by the hypotenuse
Tangent Ratio
In a right triangle, the ____ ratio of an acute angle is the opposite leg divided by the adjacent leg
Slope Angle
The acute angle a line forms with the x-axis on a coordinate graph
Complementary angles
Two angles whose measures add up to 90°.
Hypotenuse
The longest side of a right triangle.
Parallelogram
A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides.
Rectangle
A quadrilateral with four right angles.
Rhombus
A quadrilateral with four congruent sides.
Square
A quadrilateral with four right angles and four congruent sides.
Straight Angle
An angle that measures 180°.
Supplementary Angles
Two angles a and b for which a + b = 180°.
Transversal
A line that intersects two or more other lines on a flat surface (plane).
Trapezoid
A quadrilateral with at least one pair of parallel sides.
Vertical Angles
The two opposite (that is, non-adjacent) angles formed by two intersecting lines.
Segment
A straight path between two distinct points, called endpoints
Diagonal
Any sloping line or direction from one side to another, like from corner to corner in a square or rectangle, representing an oblique or slanted path.
Zoom Factor
The amount each side of a figure is multiplied by when the figure is proportionally enlarged or reduced in size.
Rotation
A rigid transformation that turns a figure around a fixed point (center of rotation) by a specific angle, preserving its shape and size but changing its orientation, moving either clockwise (negative) or counter-clockwise (positive)
Translation
A transformation that preserves the size, shape, and orientation of a figure while sliding (moving) it to a new location
Reflection
A transformation that flips a figure across a line (the line of reflection), creating a mirror image (the image) that is congruent (same size and shape) but has opposite orientation
Dilation
A transformation which produces a figure similar to the original by proportionally shrinking or stretching the figure.
Function
A special relationship where every input (x-value) from a set (the domain) is assigned to exactly one output (y-value) in another set
Similar Figures
Have the exact same shape but can differ in size, meaning their corresponding angles are equal, and their corresponding sides are proportional
Kite
A quadrilateral with two pairs of equal-length, adjacent sides
