Culture
Culture refers to the beliefs, behaviors, arts, and social practices of a particular group or society.
Ethnicity
Ethnicity refers to the shared cultural, linguistic, or ancestral heritage of a group of people. Based on natural origin
Race
classification of people into groups based on physical characteristics, such as skin color, facial features, and hair texture.
Cultural diversity
the difference among people resulting from culture, ethnic, and racial factors.
Cultural Assimilation
when minority group or new immigrants adopt the language, values, and traditions of a dominant culture, often losing original culture characteristics.
acculturation
the process of adopting the cultural traits or social patterns of another group, often as a result of prolonged contact.
sensitivity
recognizing and appreciating personal characteristics, including spirituality and unique cultural practices.
Bias
Having unclear judgement
EX: choosing your friend for the job instead of a random
Ethnocentrism
Belief that one culture is superior to another
prejudice
and strong negative belief about a person or group, for no actual reason
stereotyping
assuming someone is the exact same as someone else in their group
EX: all tall people should play basketball
Holistic Care
approach to health care that considers the whole person, including their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being, rather than just addressing specific symptoms or illnesses.

People outside of your household
EX: Aunt, Uncle, Cousins, Grandparents
Language
May need to use interpretar, speak slowly and clearly. ALl legal documents must be in their language.
Personal Touch and space
Distance people require to feel comfortable while interacting w others. Be aware of this because different cultures feel different ways about how you interact.
Time orientation
the cultural or individual preference for focusing on the past, present, or future, dictating how time is perceived, valued, and managed.
Eye contact
Remaining eye contact can be good and respectful, however some cultures believe this disrespectful
Gestures
nonverbal, visible bodily actions—primarily hand, arm, or facial movements—used to communicate, emphasize, or replace spoken words.
Healthcare Benefits
Some cultures use natural healthcare like herbal remedies, religious rituals, and other ethnic forms, some go to hospitals to be treated.
Spirituality
beliefs individuals have about themselves, their connections with others, and their relationship with higher powers

an organized system of belief in super human or higher power.
