What are hormones?
1. Hormones are chemical messengers that are secreted by endocrine glands into the bloodstream, to travel to the specified target organ.

What hormones does the pituitary gland release? FLAT
1. Follicle stimulating hormone
2. Luteinising hormone
3. Antidiuretic hormone

What hormone does the adrenal gland release?
1. Adrenaline
What hormone does the thyroid gland release?
1. Thyroxine
What hormones does the pancreas release?
1. Insulin + glucagon.
What hormones does the ovaries release?
1. Progesterone + oestrogen.
What hormone does the testes release?
1. Testosterone
What is FSH responsible for?
1. Stimulates egg development and oestrogen secretion in females and sperm production in males.
What is LH responsible for?
1. Egg release in females
2. Testosterone production in males
What is ADH responsible for?
1. Controls the water levels of blood.
What is thyroid stimulating hormone responsible for?
1. Stimulates the thyroid to release thyroxine.
What is thyroxine responsible for?
1. Controls the body's metabollic rate
2. This is how fast chemical reactions take place in cells
What is insulin responsible for?
1. Lowers blood glucose
What is glucagon responsible for?
1. Raises blood glucose
What is adrenaline responsible for?
1. Prepares the body for physical activity
