1
New cards

FR - Fixed Ratio

A reinforcer is delivered after n responses, where n is the size of the ratio. Break and run pattern pause, then a high number of responses.

2
New cards

PR - progressive ratio

The reinforcer is delivered after n responses up to a point, then the responses need to change. A breaking point will be hit eventually while the number of responses for reward arent with it anymore.

3
New cards

VR - variable ratio

The reinforcer is delivered on average after n responses; the number of responses needed for the reward is random, so it generates a high level of responses, like playing slots at a casino.

4
New cards

FI - Fixed interval

The reinforcer is delivered after the first response after a certain set period of time has passed. the time passed is not shown to the organism and a light doesnt come on to show that they can press the lever now. - scalloped pattern for animals

5
New cards

VI - variable interval

The reinforcer is delivered upon the occurrence of a response after a variable (time) has elapsed, averaging n seconds, like checking emails.

6
New cards

FT - Fixed time

reinforcer is delivered every n seconds regardless of what the organism is doing, exactly like the superstition study

7
New cards

DRH - Differential-Reinforcement-of-High-Rates

The reinforcer is only delivered if x number of responses are made in a set amount of time (ie 10 responses in 3 seconds = a reward)

8
New cards

DRL - Differential-Reinforcement-of-Low-Rates

The reinforcer gets delivered if the time inbewtween 2 responses is greater than a certain value. IRT > t (respond, WAIT, respond)

9
New cards

DR0 - Differential-Reinforcement-of-Other-Behavior

The reinforcer gets delivered only if. A fixed amount of time has elapsed without the occurrence of the target response, used to reduce problem behaviors.

10
New cards

Chained schedule of reinforcement

this schedule has multiple steps, where link 1 reinforces link 2 acting as an Sd and a conditioned stimulus. Link 1 —> Link 2 —> Reinforcer

11
New cards

TAN Tandem schedule of reinforcment

This schdeule has multiple steps to get to the end reinforcer, but there is no signal telling the organism its completled one and has move onto the next.

12
New cards

MULT - multiple schedule of reinforcement

This schedule has two or more alternating schedules, each is signaled by a different Sd.

13
New cards

MIX - Mixed schedule of reinforcement

a compound schedule where two or more basic schedules alternate—often randomly—for a single behavior, without any signals (discriminative stimuli) to indicate which schedule is currently active

14
New cards

concurent schedule

Manily used to study choice behavior, 2 or more choice options at all times, and each response is associated with its own schedule of reinforcement.

15
New cards

RR - Random Ratio

Whatever number is 1/n = % of chance of getting reinforcement with every lever press

16
New cards

Partial reinforcement (PRE)

when you reinforce behaviors, but not every time.

17
New cards

VT - Variable time

A reinforcer is delivered after a variable amount of
time has passed, averaging every n seconds, regardless of what the subject is doing.

18
New cards

VD - variable duration

A reinforcer is delivered only after the subject
engages in a sustained response for an average of n seconds.

19
New cards

CRF - continuous reinforcement

reinforced every time for action - best for teaching a new behavior
