Cognition

Schema
A mental structure that organizes knowledge and guides cognitive processes.
Natural Concept
Concepts that develop naturally from experiences, such as the idea of snow.
Artificial Concept
Concepts defined by a specific set of characteristics, like geometric shapes.
Language Acquisition Device (LAD)
A theoretical biological mechanism in humans that facilitates language learning.
Crystallized Intelligence
The ability to use acquired knowledge and skills; tends to remain stable with age.
Fluid Intelligence
The ability to reason, solve problems, and think abstractly, which may decline with age.
