Historical Significance

Determines why an event, person, or development matters. Often linked to: long-term consequences, widespread impact, how it changed Canada or the world

Cause and Consequence

Events have immediate causes (short-term triggers) or underlying causes (long-term conditions). Consequences can be political, economic, social, cultural, intended or unintended

Continuity and change 

History is not only about change. some systems, attitudes, or power structures persist over time. Used often when comparing: different time periods, government policies, social attitudes

Historical Perspective 

Understanding people in the past based on: their values, their beliefs, their historical context  and Avoids present-day judgment
