adolescence is the time when you change from a child to an adult; you experience emotional and physical changes. the physical changes are referred to as puberty, which is caused by hormones.

boys - voice breaking, penis and testes getting bigger, testes start to produce sperm, shoulders widen, har grows on face and chest
girls - develop breasts, hips widen, and release an egg once a month. they begin their menstrual cycle and get their periods; this is when the lining of their uterus breaks down once a month.
