Circuit breaker
A device that automatically interrupts the power supply in case of a fault.
Incoming power supply
The electrical power received from the main source.
Main power switch
A switch used to turn the entire system on or off.
X-ray circuit
The complete electrical circuit used to generate X-rays.
Exposure timer
A device that controls the duration of the X-ray exposure.
Step-up transformer
A transformer that increases voltage from the primary to the secondary circuit.
Rectifiers
Devices that convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC).
Primary circuit
The circuit that receives power from the incoming supply.
Secondary circuit
The circuit that delivers the voltage to the X-ray tube.
X-ray tube
The device that produces X-rays when high voltage is applied.
kVp meter
A meter that measures the kilovolt peak in the X-ray circuit.
Rheostat
A variable resistor used to control current in the circuit.
Autotransformer
A transformer that adjusts voltage and provides a range of high/low voltage.
Step-down transformer
A transformer that decreases voltage from the primary to the secondary circuit.
Filament circuit
The circuit that provides current to the filament of the X-ray tube.
