Postera depulerat stellas Aurora micantes

The next dawn had driven away the shining stars

Conveniunt populi sacrum Mavortis in arvum

The people convened in the sacred field of Mars

consistuntque iugis

And they took their places on the benches

Medio rex ipse resedit agmine

The king himself sat down in the middle of the crowd

Purpureus sceptroque insignis eburno

Purple robed and distinguished by an ivory sceptre

Ecce adamanteis Vulcanum naribus efflant aeripedes tauri

Look the bronze footed bulls blow out fire from their nostrils

Tactaeque vaporibus herbae Ardent

And the grass touched by their breaths burns

Utque solent pleni resonare camini

And just as the full furnaces are accustomed to resound

Aut ubi terrena silices fornace soluti

Or when the flints melted in the clay surface

Concipiunt ignem liquidarum aspergine aquarum

They catch fire from the spray of liquid water

Pectora sic intus clausas volventia flammas

Just so their chests, rolling around the flames closed up inside

Gutturaque usta sonant

And their burnt throats bellowed

Tamen illis Aesone natus obvius it

However Jason opposed them

Vertere truces venientis ad ora terribiles vultus

The fierce bulls turned their terrible faces

Praefixaque cornua ferro vultus

And iron tipped horns to the face of the arriving man

Pulvereumque solum pede pulsavere bisulco

And they beat the dusty ground with their cloven hooves

Fumificisque locum mugitibus impleverunt

And they filled the place with smoky bellowing
