what is acceleration?
the rate of the change in velocity
what is the equation for acceleration?
change in veloicty over time = acceleration
what are the units for acceleration?
m/s2
what is a negative acceleration?
a deceleration
what does the gradient of a velocity time graph tell you?
the acceleration of the object
what does a horizontal line on a vt graph represent?
a constant velocity
what does an upward sloping line on a vt graph represent?
acceleration
what does a gentle slope on a vt graph show?
a slow acceleration
what does the area under a vt graph show?
displacement/distance travelled
what equation is used with uniform acceleration?

what the acceleration of an object falling towards the earth near the earth’s surfacce?
9.8m/s2
why does a skydiver reach terminal velocity?
at some point the force of the weight and then opposing force (usually air resistance)
at first, the air resistance is small as the skydiver is not falling quickly yet
they then start to accelerate, which causes the air resistance to increase. at some point the air resistance balances the weight of the skydiver, so they no longer accelerate, as there is no longer a resultant force
what causes air resistance when the skydiver falls?
the frictional (upward) force with the air particles
what causes the skydiver to accelerate?
the force of gravity acting on the object induces a weight
