Combustion
The process of burning something, requiring a source of ignition, fuel, and oxygen.
Source of Ignition
Anything that can produce heat or sparks sufficient to ignite a fire, such as electrical equipment or naked flames.
Sources of Fuel
Materials that can burn and sustain a fire, including wood, paper, and combustible liquids.
Sources of Oxygen
The air around us that is necessary for a fire to continue burning.
Risk Assessment
A systematic evaluation of the potential risks that may be involved in a projected activity or process.
Hot Work
Work that may produce enough heat, sparks, or flames to ignite a fire, such as welding and grinding.
Fire Safety Measures
Techniques and equipment put in place to prevent fires and minimize risks, such as proper storage of flammable materials.
Emergency Procedure
A standard set of actions to be taken in case of fire, including raising an alarm and evacuation.
Class E Fires
Fires involving electrical equipment or circuits; typically handled with CO2 or dry powder extinguishers.
