Cluster Sentences
sentences that are difficult to read and have confusing language
- several unorganized thoughts into one
Specifiers
words that give bigger words explanations
- optional elements are specifiers and commas are flags
- ex. for, who, that, if, of, by
Break Down Cluster Sentences
stop at every specifier or comma and jot down complete thought from what youve gathered so far
- divorce the main noun from its verb; the longer the gap the easier it is to lose track of sentence
Middle-Out
when theres two or more commas see if the middle piece can be a complete sentence by itself
- if it can be a sentence > both out pieces are optional
- if it cannot be a sentence > it is optional
- then string together the core elements to get the meaning
