Gamekeeper’s thumb
A UCL tear usually due to overuse. Would show in edema and weak.
Gangalion Cyst
When a thick wall of fluid shows up in the finger that hurts when it’s moved.
Mallet Finger
When the extensor tendon in between philanges is teared, leading to the finger not being able to move.
Buttonhole (Boutonniere) Deformity
When the PFP joint is torn, leading that finger to be contracted for quite some time. Commmon in most contact sports.
How to test for a Gamekeeper’s Thumb injury?
Hold the patient’s hand and do the valgus test to the MCP joint to their finger.
How should you do the Phalen’s Test?
Tell your patient to put their hands together with palms out. If they are having pain, then they have carpal tunnel syndrome.
Finkelstein’s Test
After putting hteir thumb in their palm and folding it, they bring their hand in. If they are having pain, then it’s a sign of tendosynvotis.
