Traditional Prenatal Care Visits
First visit within the first trimester (12 weeks), monthly visits from weeks 16 to 28, every 2 weeks from weeks 29 to 36, and weekly visits from week 36 to birth.
Centering Pregnancy Visits
First visit within the first trimester (12 weeks), every 4 weeks from weeks 16 to 28, and every 2 weeks from weeks 29 to 40.
Hyperemesis gravidarum
Severe vomiting occurring during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.
Signs of Infection in Pregnancy
Chills, fever, burning on urination, and diarrhea could indicate an infection.
Miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy
Abdominal cramping and vaginal bleeding can be signs of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy
PPROM
Prelabor premature rupture of membranes, where fluid discharges from the vagina before 37 weeks.
Possible causes: Intrauterine fetal death
Absence of fetal heart rate
Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Indicator
Glycosuria and positive glucose tolerance test reaction are indicators of gestational diabetes.
Fetal Jeopardy or intrauterine fetal death
Change in fetal movements: Absence of fetal movements after quickening or any unusual change in pattern or amount of fetal movements.
Preterm Labor Signs
Uterine contractions, pelvic pressure, and cramping before 37 weeks.
Possible Causes: Hypertensive conditions, preeclampsia
Signs and symptoms: second and third trimester: swelling of face or fingers and over sacrum. Headaches:severe, frequent, or continuous. Muscular irritability or seizures and visual disturbances: blurring, double vision, or spots.
Possible causes: hypertensive conditions, preeclampsia; abrutio placentae
signs and symptoms; epigastric or abdominal pain (perceived as heartburn or severe stomachache)
possible causes: hyperemesis gravidarum, hypertension, preeclampsia
