Illustrator

A vector drawing program used to draw illustrations, cartoons, diagrams, charts and logos.

Bitmap images

Images that store information in a grid of dots.

Vector graphics

Graphics that use mathematical equations to draw out shapes, making them scalable without the loss of resolution.

Advantages of Vector Graphics

Includes high resolution printing, scalability without resolution loss, crisp and sharp lines at any size, smaller file size, and being good for drawing illustrations.

Disadvantages of Vector Graphics

Drawings tend to look flat and cartoonish; it is hard to produce photo-realistic drawings.

SVG

A sample format of vector graphics.

RGB

The color mode used for digital and web content.

CMYK

The color mode used for print content.
