Slope-Intercept Form
A linear equation represented as y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
Direct Variation
A relationship between two variables where one variable is a constant multiple of the other, represented as y = mx.
Slope of a Line (m)
The measure of the steepness of a line, calculated as m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1).
Circumference of a Circle (C)
The distance around a circle, calculated by C = πd or C = 2πr.
Area of a Triangle
The space contained within a triangle, calculated using A = (1/2)bh, where b is the base and h is the height.
Area of a Rectangle or Parallelogram
The space contained within a rectangle or parallelogram, calculated using A = bh.
Area of a Trapezoid
The space contained within a trapezoid, calculated using A = (1/2)(b1 + b2)h, where b1 and b2 are the bases and h is the height.
Surface Area of a Prism
Total area of all surfaces of a prism, calculated as C = 2B + h, where B is the area of the base and h is the height.
Volume of a Prism or Cylinder
The amount of space enclosed within a prism or cylinder, calculated using V = Bh, where B is the area of the base and h is the height.
Volume of a Pyramid or Cone
The amount of space enclosed within a pyramid or cone, calculated using V = (1/3)Bh.
Volume of a Sphere
The amount of space enclosed within a sphere, calculated using V = (4/3)πr³.
Pythagorean Theorem
A theorem that states in a right triangle, the square of the length of the hypotenuse (c) is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other two sides (a and b), expressed as c² = a² + b².
Simple Interest
Interest calculated on the principal amount only, represented by the formula I = Prt, where P is the principal, r is the rate of interest, and t is the time.
Compound Interest
Interest calculated on the initial principal and also on the accumulated interest from previous periods, represented by A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt), where n is the number of times interest is compounded per year.
