The individual that is getting the signal; benefits are communication from signaler or eavesdropping and exploitation so predate hunting prey
Costs are manipulation/ deceit and ignoring the signal may not be best

Facial expressions and body signals
Status badges= correlation between signal and underlying state of the sender of how strong they are based on colors and patterns (wasps= motor yellow black patterns on face the more aggressive)
