Tabby
show darker stripes
well defined, clear and somewhat symmetrical
orange cats are always tabby

Classic or blotched tabby
swirling pattern
not clear stripes, spots or splotches


Mackerel tabby
similar to tiger stripes
very common as dominant gene
stripes evenly spaces, run vertically
usually thick stripe along spine


Spotted tabby
spots can be different sizes
cover back, neck and sides


Ticked tabby
have agouti hair but don’t have tabby marks

mostly white cats
colour around ears and tail


Harlequin (bicolour)
coat predominantly white
random coloured marking on body including tail

50% white and coloured areas

white blaze, feet, throat, chest and belly

Tortoiseshell (tortie)
random colour distribution
varying shades of red and black
patches can be mingled or distinct
