Human–Computer Interaction (HCI)
The study of how people interact with computer systems and how to design technology that is effective, efficient, and satisfying.
Core Goal of HCI
Design systems around human capabilities such as perception, memory, attention, and emotions.
Fitts’ Law
A principle stating that larger targets are easier to select than smaller ones.
Reaction Time
The time taken to respond to a stimulus, which includes the delay before the motor response begins.
Ergonomics
The study of how to design systems that are comfortable and suitable for people, taking into account their physical and cognitive abilities.
Gulf of Execution
The gap between a user's goals and the means to achieve them in a system.
Gulf of Evaluation
The gap between a user's understanding of the system's state and the feedback the system provides.
User Experience (UX)
The overall experience of a user when interacting with a system, focusing on usability, utility, and pleasure.
Ubiquitous Computing
A paradigm where technology is integrated into everyday objects and environments.
Context-aware Computing
Systems that automatically adapt their behavior based on the context of use.
