Passive ROM to end range is contraindicated
Strentching is contraindicated
Some people may do passive range to tension but stop as soon as they get any kind of resistance
Eval is mainly subjective, observation, observational function of range and mobility, and POTENTIALLY ROM to resistance
Normall look at getting in/out of chair, going up on their toes, bending to pick something up

In NICU you cant touch them because of such a high risk for fx – parental stresses because of this as well
We will have the role of educating and being there for the parents saying this is what I am doing and if you get trained you will be able to starting doing this when you are home

Protected weightbearing is key – we want them to function, we want them to be safe
We want them to be active – but be mindful for safety

Ex. From SFO to AFO – make sure you are not causing pressure issues, don’t want to end up with fx of foot because its on the wrong way or fit incorrectly
Air casts and air splints are better for this population because they are supported but have some give for pressure
Watch torque on long joints but we want active
If you are running aquatic be aware of breathing issues (aquatic works well this population)
