Pregnancy

A thin barrier worn on the penis or placed inside the vagina to help prevent pregnancy and reduce the spread of STIs.
Birth Control Pill
A medication taken daily that helps prevent pregnancy.
IUD (Intrauterine Device)
A small device placed in the uterus by a healthcare professional to help prevent pregnancy.
Contraceptive Implant
A small rod placed under the skin of the arm that helps prevent pregnancy.
Birth Control Patch
A patch worn on the skin that releases hormones to help prevent pregnancy.
Birth Control Shot
An injection that helps prevent pregnancy for several weeks or months.
Abstinence
Choosing not to have sexual activity. This is the only method that is 100% effective at preventing pregnancy and STIs.
Sex
A physical activity that may involve contact between people for reproduction, intimacy, or pleasure. Some types of this can lead to pregnancy or the spread of STIs.
Semen
A fluid that contains sperm cells and is released from the penis during ejaculation.

A person who is attracted to people of a different gender.

Consent
A clear, voluntary, and ongoing agreement to participate in an activity. Consent must be freely given and can be withdrawn at any time.
Safer Sex
Practices that reduce the risk of pregnancy and STIs, such as using condoms correctly and consistently.
Boundary
A personal limit that helps a person feel safe and respected.
