Describe the difference between the acoelmate and psuedocoelomate condition
Acoelomate: animal whose central space is filled with tissue (mesoderm) and no true body cavity exist
Psuedocoelomate: animal with a central body cavity that lies between the gastrodermis and the mesoderm
Difference in body plan + movement in flatworms and round worms
Flatworms are dorsoventrally flattened, acoelomate (no body cavity), and have an incomplete gut (one opening), whereas roundworms are cylindrical, pseudocoelomate (fluid-filled body cavity), and have a complete digestive tract (two openings). Flatworms (Platyhelminthes) move primarily by gliding using cilia on a mucus trail or by undulating muscular waves, while roundworms (Nematodes) move exclusively by thrashing or wiggling using longitudinal muscles
