National Agreement on Closing the Gap
An agreement centered around four Priority Reforms and nineteen socio-economic targets designed to improve life outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Priority Reforms
The blueprint that all levels of government need to enact to deliver sustainable outcomes, consisting of four interlinked areas of systemic transformation.
Priority Reform One
Formal Partnerships and Shared Decision-making between governments and First Nations people.
Priority Reform Two
Building the Community Controlled Sector to deliver culturally safe and inclusive services.
Priority Reform Three
Transforming Government Organisations to be more ready and accountable for First Nations outcomes.
Priority Reform Four
Shared Access to Data and Information at a Regional Level to support First Nations data sovereignty.
Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs)
Entities to which service delivery is increasingly transferred to ensure community-led solutions and culturally appropriate approaches.
Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) Program
A program creating real jobs with proper wages in remote communities, aiming to deliver 6,000 new jobs by 2030.
3 Day Guarantee
A legislative change ensuring all families caring for a First Nations child receive 100 hours of subsidised early childhood education and care per fortnight.
Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF)
A housing initiative with a 10% First Nations tenancy target and a dedicated 600 million funding stream for First Nations projects.
Our Ways – Strong Ways – Our Voices
A standalone First Nations National Plan to end family, domestic, and sexual violence, placing culture and community-led responses at the center.
Low-Cost Essentials Subsidy Scheme
A government initiative that reduces the cost of 30 everyday essential items in remote stores by up to 50%.
Indigenous Rangers Program
An initiative being expanded with over 600 million to double the workforce to 3,800 Rangers by 2030.
13YARN
A program providing immediate, community-led, and culturally safe crisis support for First Nations people.
Birthing on Country (BoC)
A model of care providing culturally safe, continuity of maternal health care that has shown a 50% reduction in preterm birth rates.
Justice Reinvestment
A community-led model focusing on crime prevention and diversion to reduce over-representation of First Nations people in the criminal justice system.
Connected Beginnings
An initiative designed to improve early childhood outcomes through Aboriginal-led systems change and collective impact frameworks.
Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs)
Entities that receive support to manage opportunities on Country, attract capital, and drive long-term economic benefits for their communities.
Ngurra Cultural Precinct
A planned nationally significant precinct in Canberra for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytelling and a National Resting Place.
Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES)
The service that replaced the Community Development Program in November 2025 to provide tailored, culturally safe support for job seekers.
