PGs voice for groups ignored by catch-all main political parties.

Stonewall lobbying for same sex marriage gives voice to lgbt minority not represented by conservative gov.

Gurkha Justice Campaign (supported by Gurkha welfare trust) helped win right for small non-voting veterans to have UK citizenship, helps rectify dem deficits from gov by ignoring minorities.

Does not enhance

Dem undermined when insider" groups, sig financial resources gain disproportionate access to ministers, bypassing public scrutiny.

CityUK financial lobbying supra-insider group. Dozens of meetings with treasury officials during Brexit negotiations, wealthy group has resources to hire former civil servants/ministers, ensure specific interests of financial equivalence and financial passporting prioritised over public concerns of deregulation, shared with outsider group Greenpeace (lacked same resources/connections).

PGs not create level playing field, reinforce idea that most effective representation reserved for those with deepest pockets and best connections.

CCLN =

Ability to draw attention, by mentioned means is more important and listened to than collective will of electorate, therefore do not enhance democracy.
