Solution
A uniform mixture.
Solute
The substance being dissolved.
Solvent
The substance that dissolves the solute.
Saturated solution
A solution holding the maximum solute.
Dilute solution
A solution with few dissolved particles.
Concentrated solution
A solution with many dissolved particles.
Supersaturated solution
A solution with more solute than normally possible.
Molarity
Concentration measured in molL−1.
Disturbed supersaturated solution
A state in which crystals may form.
Increased volume effect
The condition where concentration decreases.
Higher temperature
What increases the solubility of most solids in water.
Saturated solution identification
A state where extra solute stays undissolved.
Greater concentration
A beaker containing more dissolved particles.
Lowered concentration via water
Occurs because the solute spreads through more volume.
Unsaturated solution
A solution in which added solute dissolves completely.
Saturated point
The point at which no more solute can dissolve.
Saturated solution residue
Undissolved solute.
