Alliances are agreements between countries to support each other in case of war. Prior to 1914 nations sought security through military alliances.
Imperialism
Imperialism is the expansionist policy of an empire by which it gains land by conquest and rules other countries, or dominates them as colonies.
Nationalism
Nationalism is a feeling of loyalty to a nation
