Photosynthesis
The process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods with the help of chlorophyll.
Chlorophyll
A green pigment found in the chloroplasts of plants that is crucial for photosynthesis.
Calvin Cycle
A series of biochemical reactions that take place in the chloroplasts of photosynthetic organisms, converting carbon dioxide and other compounds into glucose.
Cellular Respiration
The process in which cells convert glucose and oxygen into energy, producing carbon dioxide and water as byproducts.
Aerobic Respiration
A form of cellular respiration that requires oxygen to produce energy.
Anaerobic Respiration
A type of respiration that occurs without oxygen, producing energy and byproducts such as lactic acid or alcohol.
ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate)
A molecule that carries energy within cells, providing the energy needed for many cellular processes.
Biodiversity
The variety of life in the world or a particular habitat, encompassing different species and ecosystems.
Ecosystem
A biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.
Food Chain
A linear sequence of organisms through which nutrients and energy pass as one organism eats another.
