A -- the more anterior body cavity housing the heart

B -- this is the thin line of muscle between the two body cavities

found at the edge of the lips; functions to hold and grip prey rather than chewing or crushing

oral cavity


A -- found as small line on the dorsal side of the jaw; connects the oral cavity to the esophagus, primarily facilitating ingestion and initial digestion (passageway for food)
pharynx


C -- tube that starts between the junction of the two sides of the jaw; serves as the transport conduit, conected the pharynx to the stomach
esophagus


A — a large organ found in the pleuroperitineal cavity on the more anterior side; functions to hold food and initiate chemical and mechanical digestion. utilizes gastric juice to start protein breakdown
stomach

inside the stomach; straited lines or chunky filling or folded ridges; allows the stomach to distend/expand when filled with food also increases surface area for digestion and chemical breakdown
rugae of the stomach

purple circle? connected to the stomach and is posterior to it; functions as the primary site for intial, intesive phase of chemical digestion immediately following the stomach
duodenum

light blue? — coiled tube that connects the stomach to the large intestine; plays important role in digesting food and absorbing nutrients. composed of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. longer and thinner than the large intestine
