The trinity

God is one single being, but exists in 3 co equal people : The father (creator), Son (Jesus) and Holy spirit (Guide) “We believe in one God”

The Incarnation

God becoming th flesh of Jesus (Fully God, Fully human) “The word became flesh”

grace

gods free unearned gifts of love and salvation to humans

Crucifixion and Resurrection

Jesus died on the cross to pay for human sin , and rose three days later to defeat death. “He was raised on the third day”

works

the good deeds , actions and rituals to live out faith

purgatory

belief in a temporary middle state death where souls are purified and cleansed of sin before entering heaven

Salvation and Atonement

Salvation is being saved from sin ; Atonement is Jesus mending the broken relationship with god .

Nature of God & Evil

God is omnipotent and omnibenevolent , but humans have free will which allows evil (Adam and Eve)

Creation

God made the universe out of nothing with the Holy spirit and jesus

Afterlife and Judgement

God judges everyone ; the good go to heaven and the bad go to hell (parable of sheep and goats )

Parable of the Sheep and Goats

a shepherd separates sheep and goats . (sheep are good goats are bad ) it proves salvation isn’t just your beliefs but your actions

origional sin

Adam and eve were instructed not to eat of the tree of knowledge but they abused their free will by disobeying god and eating the forbidden fruit

consequences of original sin

painful childbirth , periods, men doing manual labour

literal christian’s

believe the bible word for word . god created the world in 7 days

liberal christian’s

the bible is inspired by god but written by humans , genesis is symbolic . big bang and evolution
