What is Newton’s first law of motion?
If the resultant force on an object is 0, then the object will remain stationary or continue moving at the same velocity (same speed and direction)
What is Newton’s second law of motion?
The acceleration of the an object is proportional to the resultant force, is inversely proportional to the mass of the object.
What is Newton’s third law of motion?
Whenever two objects interact, the forces they exert on each other are equal and opposite.
what is inertia?
the tendency of an object to remain in its state of rest of uniform motion (unless acted upon by an external force)
i.e resistance to change in motion
what is inertial mass?
the property of an object which describes how difficult it is to change its velocity
ratio of force applied to the acceleration it experiences
How do you calculate inertial mass?
Force/acceleration = inertial mass
so inertial mass is inversely proportional to acceleration
