What is diffusion?
Is when particles in a liquid or gas move from a high concentration to a lower concentration area
What Is A Concentration Gradient
The gradient between a high and low concentration area
What Is Aerobic Respiration?
Cells can’t get energy from food directly so oxygen breaks down the food molecules so the feel get their energy (aerobic means using oxygen)
What is the word equation for aerobic respiration?
Glucose+ + oxygen —> carbon dioxide + water
Where does aerobic respiration happen?
In a specialised structures in cells called mitochondria and they are both found in animals and plants cells because they both need to release the energy stored in food molecules in a controlled way
What does anaerobic mean
without oxygen
Whats the difference between aerobic and anaerobic respiration
aerobic: a lot of energy per molecule
anaerobic: less energy per molecule but produced quicker
during anaerobic are the glucose molecules fully broken down
no they are not fully broken down
what is the waste product for anaerobic respiration
lactic acid instead of carbon dioxide in water for aerobic
is anaerobic resperation useful
yes its very useful but we cant use it for long at a time
is lactic acid toxic
its toxic when it builds up, when you keep breathing fast after you exersized your body used the extra oxygen you take in to break down the lactic acid in your muscles
