Cells can’t get energy from food directly so oxygen breaks down the food molecules so the feel get their energy (aerobic means using oxygen)

Where does aerobic respiration happen?

In a specialised structures in cells called mitochondria and they are both found in animals and plants cells because they both need to release the energy stored in food molecules in a controlled way
