Cell
A functional and fundamental structural unit of organisms responsible for providing structure, assisting growth, and converting nutrients into energy.
Cell division
The process through which cells assist the growth of organisms.
Microscope
The instrument required to see cells as they are too small to be seen with the naked eye.
Cell wall
An organelle made of cellulose found only in plant cells that protects organelles and gives the cell strength, structure, or shape.
Cellulose
The material that makes up the cell wall in plant cells.
Cell membrane
A thin semi-permeable layer of protein and fat that surrounds the cell and controls what enters and leaves.
Chloroplast
An organelle labeled in the plant cell diagram but not in the animal cell diagram.
Mitochondrion
An organelle present in both plant and animal cells used for energy conversion.
Vacuole
An organelle present in both plant and animal cells as shown in the provided diagrams.
Nucleus
The central organelle identified in both plant and animal cells.
Cytoplasm
A component found in both plant and animal cells that houses organelles.
