gonads that produce oocytes and secrete hormones

Primary Oocytes
surrounded by Follicular Cells (nourish and support) to fomr Primordian Ovarian Follicles
all develop while in utero
Ovarian Cycle (FSH)
FSH causes several primordial follicles develop → primary ovarian follicles + follicular cells to divide into Granulosa + Thecal Endocrine Cells owrk with Granulosa to produce estrogen
→ (a few) Secondary Ovarian Follicles → (one) Tertiary Follicle
Ovarian Cycle (LH)
Ovulation occurs tertiary follicle ruptures and release oocyte into peritoneal cavity
ruptured follicle develops into Corpus Luteum, which secretes Progesterone to maintain
what happens if fertilization doesn’t occur?
corpus luteum stops secreting hormones and becomes Corpus Albicans
Uterine
