OD
remain constant for the same NPS
Higher schedule
thicker wall→smaller ID
Schedule 40
the most common industrial pipe
pressure loss varies
Velocity²
Stainless Steel corrosion resistance
comes from chromium
carbon >0.43%
not weldable
Superheated steam
steam with temperature above saturation temperature
Economizer
uses flue gas heat to preheat feedwater
Daerator
Removes oxygen to prevent corrosion
Steam trap
Removes condensate without losing steam
Steam Accumulator
stores excess steam energy
Flash Steam
steam forms when hot condensate drops in pressure
MAWP
Maximum Allowable working pressure
Water Hammer
Shock due to condensate slugs in pipes
Compressor
is the heart (pumping system) of a refrigeration system which compresses the refrigerant gas going to the condenser.
Condenser
receives the superheated refrigerant and removes the superheat to liquefy the refrigerant (heat rejection)
Expansion Valve (Thermostatic Expansion valve, TXV)
reduces the pressure of liquid refrigerant and regulates the flow towards the evaporator to control the superheating at the outlet of evaporator.
Evaporator
transfers the heat from substance being cooled to a boiling refrigerant.
