Relation
A relation between two sets.
Domain
The elements in the first set
Range
The elements of the second set
One-to-One Relation
A relation where every element in the domain is mapped to a unique element in the range.
Many-to-One Relation
A relation where two or more elements in the domain are mapped to only one element in the range.
One-to-Many Relation
A relation where each element in the domain is mapped to two or more elements in the range.
Many-to-Many Relation
A combination of a many-to-one relation and a one-to-many relation.
Vertical Line Test (VLT)
A test used to determine if a graph represents a function.
Function
A special type of relation where no element in the domain is mapped or paired
Ordered Pair
A set consisting of an x and y-coordinate, representing a relation between two variables.
Function Notation
the form y = f(x), indicating that y is a function of x.
Evaluate a Function
find f(x) for a given value of x by substituting the value into the function's equation.
Function Rule
An equation that defines the relationship between independent variable x and dependent variable y.
Factors of a Number
The integers that can be multiplied together to produce that number.
Ordered Pairs from Data
Sets of pairs derived from the relationship defined by certain data, typically written in the form (x, y).
