Self Serving Bias

The tendency to take credit for successes but blame outside factors for your failures

Self-Fulfilling Bias

Belief/expectations that influences your behavior in a way that makes it come true

Situational Attribution

Explaining someone’s behavior based on external factors rather than their personality

Social Desirability Bias

The tendency to give people answers that make them look good/socially acceptable but aren’t necessarily true

Third Variable Problem

When an unknown outside factor influences both variables in a study that makes it seem like they are directly related when they aren’t

EX: Ice cream increase in sales and people drowning increase due to hot weather

Falsifiability

The idea that a scientific claim must be able to be tested and potentially proven wrong

Directionality Problem

In a correlation, unclear which variable is causing the other
