What is the structure of the Golgi body?
A stack of curved flattened sacs - the cisternae and associated vesicles
How do vesicles interact with the Golgi body?
Vesicles fuse at the cis face and bud off/pinch off/leave at the other trans face
What does the Golgi body do?
Transports lipids and digestive molecules across the cell, modifies proteins made in the rough endoplasmic reticulum ready for secretion from the cell, assembles polysaccharides for the plant cell wall matrix (from monosaccharides to make them complex), concentrates proteins like insulin
What is the structure of finished proteins?
They are surrounded by membranes forming vesicles to be transported around the cell or the cell surface membrane for secretion
