What causes scabies?

Itching and a pimple-like rash.

Why does scabies itching occur?

An allergic reaction to proteins and feces from the mites.

Wrists, elbows, armpits, waist, buttocks, shoulder blades, and genital areas.

How is scabies spread?

Direct prolonged skin-to-skin contact.

How long can scabies remain unnoticed after infection?

Up to two months.

How quickly may future scabies infections appear?

Within one to four days.

How is scabies commonly treated?

Scabicide lotion or cream.

What complication can happen from scratching scabies?

Secondary bacterial infection.

What should CNAs do if scabies is suspected?

Report itching or rash to the nurse immediately.
