Resume
A concise document that highlights your education, work experiences, and other qualifications such as skills and strengths.
Heading
Contains basic information about the applicant, including their complete name, current address, and contact details.
Job Objective/Career Objective
Reflects the applicant's career goals and intentions for applying for the job.
Professional Summary
Showcases the applicant's knowledge or abilities, including a short job summary and soft skills.
Expertise and Achievement
Refers to the professional skills and qualifications of the applicant, including personal and technical skills.
Educational Background
Includes the applicant's degree, major, school attended, and year of attendance.
Work Experience
Also referred to as employment history; includes details about previous jobs held.
References
2-3 reliable people who can vouch for the applicant's skills and experiences.
College Admission Letter
Also known as the letter of intent; a brief discussion of the intention to be admitted to a specific course in college.
Employment Application Letter
Also known as a cover letter; used to introduce oneself and is usually submitted with a resume.
Full-block Format
The most common letter layout where all parts are justified to the left.
Semi-block Format
A letter format where all parts are left-aligned, except for the beginning of each paragraph which is indented.
Body of the Letter
Consists of opening, middle, and closing paragraphs.
Complementary Close
A polite way of ending a letter, which ends with a comma.
Signature
Includes the complete name and handwritten signature of the sender.
