WWI was fought over sovereignty and territory, economic secruity and nationalism etc. Also dominated the discussions at peace talks in Paris 1919-1920

Peacekeepers: armed forces that maintain peace by keeping enemies apart until a crisis can be resolved through diplomacy and negotiation

Peacemaking: allow soldiers to use force for reasons otehr than self defence

What is national interest for peace settlement in WWI?

Much of the origin of the war was based on the desire of the slavic peoples in Bosnia and Herzeogivna to no longer be part of Austria-Hungary, but instead to be part of Serbia. IN this way, nationalism led to war

In a more general way, however, the nationalism of the various countries throughout Europe contrinbuted not only to the beggingin by the extensions of war in Europe.

Austria Archduke Franx Ferdinand was killed in Bosnia by a Serbian natioanlist who believed Bosnia should belong to Serbia.
