external respiration

* oxygen enters from alveolar sac because pressure of oxygen is greater in sac than oncoming blood, same with co2 and more in blood than sac

internal respiration

* exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between blood and tissue cells
* cells utilise oxygen when manufacturing engergy (ATP) water and co2
* continually using oxygen means concentration in tissues is Lower than blood
* co2 is higher in tissue than blood, so continuously diffuse between tissue and blood.
