Power
The fundamental ability to make things happen.
Energy
The stored capacity required to move or change objects.
Work
The result when an organism or object uses energy to exert a force over a distance (moving from Point A to B).
Force
A measurable physical interaction, described as any Push, Pull, Twist, or Turn that impacts an object.
Contact Forces
A category of forces where objects must be physically touching, involving a direct, mechanical transfer of energy.
Non-Contact Forces
Also known as Action at a Distance, these are forces that happen across a distance through invisible fields without requiring physical touch.
Frictional Force
A force created whenever two surfaces move (or try to move) across each other that opposes motion and often transfers energy as heat.
Air Resistance
A specialized form of friction acting on objects traveling through the air, operating in the exact opposite direction of the object's motion.
Normal Force
The upward support force exerted upon an object that is resting on a stable surface.
Tension Force
A force transmitted through a string, rope, or cable when pulled tight from opposite ends.
Spring Force
The force exerted by a compressed or stretched spring upon any object attached to it as it attempts to return to its original shape.
Applied Force
A direct force applied to an object by a person or another object.
Gravitational Force
A universal force that attracts all masses to each other and provides objects on Earth with their weight.
Electrical Force
An attractive or repulsive interaction between any two charged objects where like charges repel and opposite charges attract.
Magnetic Force
Attraction or repulsion that arises between electrically charged particles because of their motion, exerted via a magnetic field.
