Eyepiece lens (ocular lens)
The part you look through, and it helps you see things bigger.

Diopter adjustment
A small adjuster near the eyepiece, and it helps make the image clear for your eyes.

Nosepiece
The turning part that holds the lenses, and it lets you change zoom levels.

Objective lens
The lenses close to the slide, and they make the specimen look bigger.

Stage clip
The clip on the stage, and it holds the slide still.

Aperture
Thee little hole in the microscope stage that lets light pass through the slide so you can see the object clearly. It helps control how much light comes in, making the image brighter or darker so you can see it better.

Condenser
The part under the stage, and it helps focus light on the specimen.

Illuminator (light source)
The microscope light, and it helps you see the specimen.

Eyepiece tube
The tube that holds the eyepiece, and it keeps the microscope parts lined up.

Head
The top part of the microscope, and it holds the viewing parts together.

Arm (carrying handle)
The side part of the microscope, and it helps support and carry it.

Glass slide
A thin piece of glass, and it holds the specimen you want to look at.

Mechanical stage
The flat part where the slide sits, and it moves the slide around.

Coarse adjustment knob
The big knob, and it helps focus quickly.

Fine adjustment knob
The small knob, and it makes the image extra clear.

Stage control knobs
The knobs that move the slide, and they help move it left, right, forward, or backward.

Base
The bottom part of the microscope, and it keeps the microscope standing steady.

Brightness adjustment
The light control, and it makes the light brighter or darker.

Light switch
The button or switch, and it turns the light on or off.

Diaphragm
A part of the microscope that controls how much light goes through the aperture to the slide, so you can make the image brighter or darker to see it more clearly.
