Spatial Cognition
The ability to understand and manipulate spatial relationships and navigate through environments.
Dorsal Stream
The brain pathway involved in processing spatial information, from primary visual areas to the parietal cortex.
Binocular Disparity
The difference in the retinal image of an object seen by both eyes, used for depth perception.
Egocentric Reference Frames
Locating an object's position in relation to the self.
Allocentric Reference Frames
Locating an object's position in relation to other objects, independent of one's own location.
Optic Ataxia
A disorder of visually guided reaching due to parietal lobe damage, leading to impaired spatial action.
Motion Parallax
A monocular cue for depth perception where nearer objects move more on the retina than farther objects.
Corollary Discharge Theory
A theory suggesting that a copy of motor commands is sent to a comparator to determine motion perception.
Depth Perception
The ability to perceive the distance of objects and the spatial arrangement of the environment.
Constructional Praxis
The ability to motorically produce or manipulate items to have a particular spatial relationship.
