• athlete never falls unconscious

• suffers momentary confusion

• symptoms or abnormalities last for 15 mins

• can return the same day

what is a grade 2 concussion and its symptoms, management

• confusion occurs

• last more that 15 mins

management

• athlete should be removes and not return same day

• return to practice after athlete is asymptomatic for a week of full rest

what is a grade 3 concussion

• involves any loss of consciousness

• active EMS

• through neurological exams

what is post concussion syndrome

• persistent headaches

• blurred vision

• vertigo

• memory loss

• irritability

• inability yo concentrate

• last for 48 hrs after injury to several weeks or months after

what is second impact syndrome

• individual sustains a second head injury before first symptoms have resolved

• can be minor head injury but has potential for a catastrophic injury
