Reality Orientation

the process of orienting a confused or disoriented resident to the here and now

Reminiscing

remembering and talking about events and personal experiences from the past

Residents

people cared for in a long-term facility

Skilled nursing facility

a state-licensed inpatient facility that provides 24-hour medical, nursing, and rehabilitative care under the supervision of a physician

Subacute care

comprehensive care for persons with moderate illness; care between acute and chronic illness

Validation therapy

A therapeutic technique of agreeing with all or parts of a resident’s communication to increase his or her self confidence, image, and esteem
