Pressure Transducer
These devices detect the measured pressure and convert it into a mechanical movement. The mechanical movement is then transduced into an electrical signal by either pot or an LVDT.
Bourdon Tube
It is a deformed metal tube with an oval cross section. It is open at one end and sealed at the other end.
10 to 300 psi
What is the range of pressure that bourdon tubes often measures?
Bellows
It is a flexible metal tube designed to expand and contract made from thin metal with deep folds.
Diaphragm
It is a pressure transducer used for low pressure measurement.
Metallic
A type of diaphragm with good spring characteristics.
Non-metallic
A type of diaphragm with no elastic characteristics.
Strain Gauge
It is a device used to measure the strain of an object.
Gauge
It is any of a variety of measuring instruments.
Strain
It is the change of length of an object divided by its orignal length.
Wheatstone Bridge Circuit
It is an electrical circuit used to measure an unknown electrical resistance by balancing two legs of a bridge circuit.
Load Cell
It is a transducer used to convert a force into an electrical signal.
Hydraulic Load Cell
It is a type of load cell that consist of a piston and a chamber field with oil.
Pneumatic Load Cell
A type of load cell that measures weight by balancing a load against air pressure that is automatically regulated by a flexible internal diaphragm.
Capacitive Load Cell
A type of load cell measures weight by detecting the increase in electrical capacitance that occurs when a load squeezes two silicon wafers together.
Piezo-electric Load Cell
A type of load cell that measures rapidly changing forces by generating an electrical voltage that is directly proportional to how much its internal material is deformed.
Strain Gauge Cell
A type of load cell that measures weight by converting the physical stretching or contracting of an internal resistor into a measurable change in electrical resistance.
Sound Sensor / Microphone
It is a transducer that converts acoustic sound waves into proportional analog electrical signal
Dynamic Microphone
It is a moving coil type microphone which uses electromagnetic induction to convert the sound waves into an electrical signal.
Condenser Microphone
It is a type of microphone that consists of a thin conductive membrane and a solid metal backplate.
48V
10 to 50 pF
What is the most common voltage and the capacitance range of a condenser mic?
Ribbon / Velocity Microphone
It is a type of microphone where the induced voltage is proportional to the velocity of the ribbon.
Piezo-electric Microphone
It is a type of microphone that generates an electrical output by using crystalline materials, typically housed in a "bimorph" structure, that produce voltage when they are deformed by sound waves.
